Sparrow Solutions holds regular online learning and development events to which everyone is welcome! These are friendly, collaborative get togethers and, depending on what the subject is, can be in the form of workshops, forums or roundtables, called 'Sandbox Sessions'. 


They cover a range of subjects that will not only help support financial planners, advisers and paraplanners with doing the day job but also with ongoing learning and development, career choices and anything else that may come up on a professional pathway!

📔✍ Crafting great client reports – Release your Inner Storyteller! ✍📔



What's the event?


We all know that our Suitability Reports and Plans need to explain to clients how our advice is suitable and right for them - but how can we do that in a clear, simple and engaging way? 


This practical workshop will help you to write client friendly plans and reports using plain English, whilst making sure you still include what you need from a compliance point of view.  There's also going to be practical examples and exercises to help bring it to life and really cement your learning for the future.


It also provides 3 hours of Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) endorsed and accredited CPD. 


What's it all about?

 


The workshop will cover compliance aspects, such as what does COBS and the FCA say has to be in a Suitability Report? What is ‘good practice’ to include in a report and also, what doesn't need to be there?


It will also look at practical report writing techniques; how to write a report the client wants to read using language, visual styles and layout techniques. This will include how to use language to make reports more readable and easy for a client to understand, as well as how to make them more inviting and visually appealing using graphics, layout and differing styles.

This CISI accredited CPD session will be looking at building SMART objectives from the info in the file and provides 1.25 hours of endorsed CPD!

Do you ever feel like it’s a bit of a hunt trying to find SMART Objectives in fact find or file note? 🔎


Do you sometimes feel you need Sherlock Holmes level deducing powers to track down those client goals? 🕵️🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️


Perhaps you think you have all the parts of the puzzle but you’re just not quite sure how they all fit together? 🧩


Quite often, all the info you need to build the clients’ SMART goals and objectives will be there but sometimes it can be a bit difficult to see the wood for the trees!



In this Sparrow Solutions Sandbox Session, we’ll be looking at how you can extrapolate the info from the Fact Find to build personalised, SMART objectives to use in your report.

 

There'll also be discussions and practical examples and exercises to help bring it to life and really cement your learning for the future.

 

And it’s going to be a Flash session – 90 minutes and we’re done – quick as a flash!

This is a practical session giving help on how to do (one part of!) the paraplanning job itself!


It will be helpful to aspiring, new and trainee paraplanners, and existing paraplanners who are looking to refresh their knowledge.

 

It will also be helpful for new and existing financial planners wanting to brush up on writing SMART client objectives based on their conversations with clients, or for financial planners wanting to make sure sure they're providing the right info for their paraplanners to do so.

Practical Financial Planning: Creating SMART client objectives


 

What will be covered?

 

Have you ever struggled to really pinpoint a client’s goals or objectives? 



We all know that our clients needs, goals and objectives are the bedrock of any Financial Plan, as well as the foundation for the advice and recommendations we give them. If we don't have SMART Goals and Objectives for the client, how do we know our advice is suitable and right for them? 




Enabling and supporting clients to achieve their goals and objectives is also one of the Cross Cutting Rules of Consumer Duty.



This practical workshop will help you to identify all those goals, objectives and needs. We will be looking at how to get and use the information that's been provided by the client, as well as data in the fact find and file notes, to create SMART client objectives on which to build their Financial Plan and/or formulate advice and recommendations. 


It's going to be an interactive and collaborative session with plenty of discussions and sharing of ideas. There's also going to be practical examples and exercises to help bring it to life and really cement your learning for the future.
